On Sunday, August 9, the Pfimikids will be moving to new classes and, consequently, new classrooms. You can find all class-specific information below. There are major changes for the following classes:

2nd Kindergarten: Will now start in the Small Hall (upper floor).
1st Grade:Blessing ceremony to mark the start of school on August 9, 2026.Registration for the blessing is required.
5th Grade: Will now participate in the worship service in the Large Hall (right side of the gallery).
7th Grade: Will now participate in Youth Sunday.

Class-Specific Information

Dear Parents and Guardians, It is our privilege to care for your child during the worship services, and we sincerely thank you for your trust. Infants up to 22 months of age are cared for in the nursery. Starting at 22 months, children attend the Toddler Service, and beginning in their first year of kindergarten, they attend the Children’s Service. Starting in their first year of kindergarten, our leaders and staff will accompany your child for two years. All class-specific information is listed below.
To ensure optimal care, please register your child at a check-in station every Sunday. If you have any questions about check-in, our Host Team will be happy to assist you.

Kids Check-in Instructions

Daycare Center

After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your baby at the baby care center. Our host team will be happy to show you the way to this room. Just stop by the Welcome Desk. Our staff members are identified by name tags. You’re also welcome to drop off your sleeping baby with us in a stroller. There is a compartment available for each baby where you can store personal items such as a diaper bag, jacket, pacifier, blanket, diapers, bottles, baby food, etc. If you’d like to stay with your child, you can borrow headphones at the entrance to the main hall so you can follow the sermon from the nursery.

To ensure that we can meet your baby’s needs in as many ways as possible, we ask that you let us know the following: 
  • Help with falling asleep, sleep schedules, when to breastfeed, or when it's time for the next bottle or baby food. 
  • General details and anything else that is particularly important to you. 

It’s great if your child has a blanket with them so we can place it under their head on the floor or in the Dondolo. We’re happy to change and feed your baby at your request. However, if we’re short-staffed, we may call you via the parent call system. We’ll also call you if your baby is crying and our staff can’t calm them down, or if it’s time to breastfeed or bottle-feed. When that happens, your child’s number will appear in the worship hall and in the lounge on the middle floor. You can change your baby in the restrooms right next to the baby care area. The room right next to the baby care area is also available for you to feed your child. 

After your child's first birthday, they will move up to the next age group at the daycare center. Please be sure to notify the Welcome Desk of this change as well. Thank you very much! 

Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We would appreciate it if you could pick up your child from us after the adult service. This will give us the opportunity to get to know you as well.

After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child at the Schnäggli After-School Care Center. Our host team will be happy to show you the way to this room. Just stop by the Welcome Desk. Our staff members are identified by name tags. You’ll pick up your child at the door to the Schnäggli room. You can hang your child’s jacket in the coat check area in the foyer. You can place shoes in a cubby in the Schnäggli room. It’s a good idea to put oversocks or something similar on your child. If your child likes to have a stuffed animal or pacifier with them, please let us know so we can make a note of it and give it to your child if needed. If you’d like to stay with your child, you can borrow headphones at the entrance to the main hall to listen to the sermon from the childcare room. If your child wears diapers that need to be changed during the service, we’ll call you via the parent call system. Your child’s number will then appear in the worship hall and in the lounge on the middle level. You can change your baby’s diaper in the restrooms right next to the baby care area. The room right next to the baby care area is also available for you to feed your child. 

If you’d like, one of our female staff members will be happy to change your child’s diaper. Your child will not be changed by a male staff member. We provide the children with a small snack (rice cakes, Pancroc, or Darvida, depending on their age). Please let us know if your child needs a bottle or baby food. If we have the time and enough staff, we’d be happy to handle this for you upon request. Please send your child to daycare with something to drink. Please let us know about any special considerations that are important for your child’s care (such as allergies, medications, etc.). 

At 22 months, your child will move up to the toddler service (Büsi). Please let us know at the Welcome Desk. Thank you very much!

Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We would appreciate it if you could pick up your child from us after the adult service. This will give us the opportunity to get to know you as well.

Children's Church Service

After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child at the Büsi Room. Our host team will be happy to show you the way to this room. Just stop by the Welcome Desk. Our leaders and staff members are identified by name tags. You’ll pick up your child at the door to the Büsi Room. You can hang your child’s jacket in the coat check area in the foyer. Please place shoes in the rack at the entrance to the Büsi Room. It’s a good idea to put oversocks or something similar on your child. Always label stuffed animals or pacifiers with your child’s name so they don’t get lost and can find their way back home. If your child is wearing diapers that need to be changed during the service, we’ll call you via the parent pager. Your child’s number will then appear in the worship hall and in the lounge on the middle floor. You can change your child’s diaper in the restrooms right next to the baby care area. Please let us know if your child doesn’t wear diapers and you’d like us to take them to the restroom. We provide the children with a small snack (apples, cookies, and water). Every Sunday, starting with the Büsis, we share God’s love and truth with your child through age-appropriate lessons. Spiritual instruction is primarily the responsibility of parents. Through our lessons, we support parents in this role. 

Our age-appropriate lessons include the following: 
  • God is the Creator; He made everything, and everything He makes is good! (Water, snow, day and night, the sun, animals, people, etc.).
  • God created you; He wanted you, planned you, and made you unique (unconditional Acceptance, God's love, and self-esteem are strengthened).
  • The Word of God is true: God speaks to us through His Word. (Bibles with Treasure Chests).
  • Being shaped by hearing the Word of God (what you hear first becomes ingrained as truth!).
  • We engage all the senses:sight(pictures, food, objects, live animals, etc.), hearing (music, sounds, etc.), taste(food, juices),touch (feeling, objects), andsmell ( various scents).
  • Simple games and simple crafts.
  • Thanksgiving, prayer, and praise.

        • After your child’s birthday, they will move from the toddler service to the next age group (Schäfli). Please let us know at the Welcome Desk. Thank you very much!

        After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child at the Schäfli Daycare. Our host team will be happy to show you the way to the daycare room. Just stop by the Welcome Desk. Our staff members are identified by name tags. You’ll drop off your child at the counter. You can hang your child’s jacket and leave their shoes at the coat rack outside the daycare room. It’s a good idea to put extra socks or something similar on your child. Please avoid bringing your own toys if possible, as they always end up getting lost and are often hard to find. Only bring a stuffed animal or pacifier if necessary, and always label them with your child’s name so they don’t get lost and can be returned home. We do not change children’s diapers. If your child is wearing diapers thatneed tobe changed during the service, we will notify you via the parent paging system.Your child’s number willthenappear in the worship hall and in the lounge on the middle floor. You can change your child’s diaperinthe restrooms on the middle floor, right next to the baby care room. Please let us know if your child does not wear diapers and you would like us to take them to the restroom. Your child will be accompanied to the restroom by female staff members. If only male staff members are present, we will call you via the parent pager.Alternatively, you may give us your explicit permission for male staff members to accompany the children to the restroom.In this case, the women’s restroom will always be used. Staff will only assist with clothing, cleaning, or sitting on the toilet when absolutely necessary, and the doors will remain open. We provide the children with a small snack (apples, cookies, and water). Please do not send your child with their own snack. Please let us know about any special needs that are important for your child’s care (e.g., allergies, medications, etc.). Ifyou’d like to stay with your child, you can borrow headphones at the entrance to the main hall to listen to the sermon from the childcare area.

        Daysi Placencio, Team Leader at Schäfli After-School Care Center

        After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child at the Bear Room. Our host team will be happy to show you the way to this room. Just check in at the Welcome Desk. Our leaders and staff members are identified by name tags. Jackets and shoes can be left at the coat check. The children are welcome to wear just their socks, but if you’d like, they can also put on oversocks. We provide the children with a variety of snacks and water. Our staff will accompany the children to the restroom. We’ll only offer assistance if your child needs it. At 10:00 a.m., we begin our time with a joyful worship session for toddlers. We want to praise God and thank Him with our voices and through movement. For the 4-year-olds (Bears) and the children in the first year of kindergarten
        (Elephants), the toddler worship service takes place in the back room of the Bears’ area. Therefore, children from both age groups are dropped off at the Bears’ area. After the toddler worship service, the children are divided into classes by age. Up through their 4th birthday, children move to a new group on their birthday. Starting in the 1st kindergarten year, however, the transition takes place for the entire class at the beginning of the school year in August. If you would like to stay with your child, you can borrow headphones at the entrance to the main hall to listen to the sermon from the preschool worship service.

        Our age-appropriate, Bible-based lessons include the following: 
        • From the Old Testament: Moses, Daniel, Jonah, Samuel, Abraham, Gideon, Ruth, Jacob, etc.
        • From the New Testament: Manystories about Jesus’ ministry, and a few from the Acts of the Apostles. Also stories about holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, Ascension Day, and even Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

        We tell the stories in a very simplified way, emphasizing God’s greatness, love, care, and omnipotence. Most of the time, after listening to a story, we’ll “act it out” to explore it more deeply with the children. It’s important to us that the children get to know the Word of God and its many historical stories
        . We realize that they don’t yet understand all the nuances. Nor do they need to. In the upper grades, they’ll hear the same stories again in great detail at
        and learn to understand them.

        We would be happy if you could pick up your child from us after the adult service. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you as well.

        After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child at the Bear Room. Our leaders and staff members will be wearing name tags. There, together with the Bears, we’ll begin with the Toddler Praise Time. During this time, we sing age-appropriate songs with the children that express, for example, God’s attributes, His greatness, His love, and so on. They also learn how to thank and honor Him through singing, movement, and music. Afterward, we go with the children from the 1st Kindergarten class to our Elfefant Room. There, in a short lesson, we’ll introduce the children to the heroes of the Bible (Jacob, Gideon, Ruth, Elijah, and many more) and the miracles Jesus performed. There will also be plenty of time for a snack, crafts, drawing, and playing together. After the service, please pick up your child in the 1st Kindergarten room (MG10).

        Children's service

        The transition from the toddler service to the children’s service is a big step, and we’re delighted to be able to support your child through it. After check-in, we’ll welcome you and your child inthe Keinsaalon the upper floor. Our leaders and staff members are identified by name tags. All children from the 2nd year of kindergarten through the 4th grade have the opportunity to worship God together with their peers during the children’s worship service (see Children’s Worship Service). 

        We wanttopraise God—at home and in the congregation. Children should learn to praise God by following their parents’ example.They are also taught about tithing and offerings and have the opportunity to put these teachings into practice. Does your child enjoy singing? Then they have the opportunity to sing in a band on a regular basis.Starting in 2nd grade, children who have been taking instrumental lessons for at least two years can join the band. Our goal is always to connect the stories to the children’s lives so that they can apply what they’ve heard to their daily lives. To reinforce the lesson, we do crafts, draw, or play games together.

        On August 9, the blessing ceremony for the start of school will be held for all children entering first grade after summer break. Registration is required for this blessing ceremony. After the blessing, the children will go with their teachers to their classroom on the hall level. After the service, they must be picked up from there by a parent or guardian.

        At around 6 or 7 years old—the age when children start first grade—they love heroes! That’s why, at KiGo, they’ll hear a lot about the heroes in God’s Word.

This also gives us the opportunity to talk with you about the children’s service or answer any questions you may have.

        We enjoy teaching God’s Word to the children in a way that’s appropriate for their age and praying with them. Meaningful discussions, wonderful fellowship, solving puzzles, and creatively exploring what they’ve heard are all part of the children’s service.

        Barbara Lai, 4th-Grade Team Leader

        The 5th-grade students are now participating in the congregation’s worship. We’ll discuss this big step together during the children’s service and help the children realize that they are part of the congregation—not “just” spectators in the gallery. After check-in, we’ll welcome the 5th graders to the right gallery in the main hall. We’ll join in worship for the first 25–30 minutes. After that, we’ll head to our 5th-grade room, which is located to the right behind the stage. My team and I are very much looking forward to welcoming your child, whom we’ll have the privilege of accompanying over the next two years (until they transition to Youth Sunday). 

        We cover the following biblical topics:

        Since a topic is often covered over several Sundays, it’s very valuable for the children to be able to attend the children’s service regularly. This also has the advantage for the children that they can deepen their friendships and build trust with one another. Having a good “buddy” by their side is especially valuable and important at this age. Thank you for encouraging and supporting your child in this.

        If a child attends children’s church regularly, they are not required to take the church education class (KUW). In children’s church classes, we cover a much broader range of topics and teach the children the Word of God in a way that is appropriate for their age and stage of development.

        It brings us great joy to teach God’s Word to the children, to accompany them on part of their journey of faith, to pray with them, and to listen to God’s voice
        . But also to share with them and enjoy fellowship.

        Maya Kambli, 5th-Grade Team Leader

        This will be your child’s last year attending children’s church. Therefore, one of our main priorities is to prepare the children as best as possible for participating in the worship service. If your child attends children’s church regularly, there is no need for them to also attend religious education classes (KUW) in their home parish, as our lessons cover a broad range of topics.

        Just like earlier this school year, the children spend the first 20–25 minutes in the left gallery joining the adults in worship. After that, we go to our 6th-grade classroom, which is located to the left behind the stage.

        We cover the following biblical topics:

        • The Bible: An Introduction to Reading the Bible, Finding Your Way in the Bible, The Words of God in the Bible, The Bible as a Guide to Life (5 lessons)

        It’s always exciting to study God’s Word with the children, work through it together, and discuss it with them. And it’s a great joy to see how the children are learning to understand more and more, how their trust in God is growing, and how they contribute to the lessons with their personal experiences and testimonies. The children’s testimonies about how God speaks to them and works in their lives are always encouraging for the whole class, as well as for us leaders and staff.

        What else I need to know

        In order to check your child in with us, you must first register them with us. To do this, come to the Welcome Desk on Sunday or register your children in advance using the First Registration Children form.

        First registration children

        Once your child is registered with us, you can simply check them in on Sunday at the check-in stations on the ground and middle floors.
        At the check-in stations, you will receive a sticker for your child with their first name and surname, a number assigned to the child for the parent emergency call and the class division. The name tag should be stuck on the back of the toddlers and on the front of the chest for children from the 1st kindergarten.

        Check-in Instructions

        Toddlers are divided into classes according to their age. The transfer to the next class follows with the birthday. As soon as a child starts school, the current class that your child attends also applies to attendance at the children's service.

        The protection of your data is important to us. It goes without saying that we handle your data responsibly. We undertake to treat your data with care and to use it only in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act. Under no circumstances will the data collected be sold or passed on to third parties for other reasons.         As a general rule, no children should be in the worship hall. We have a great and age-appropriate children's program. Parents who do not wish to take advantage of the program are advised that they can stay in the lounge area and follow the service from there.

        If a child needs a mother or father during the service, your child's number will light up on the display boards in the service hall and the lounge. Please come to your child's classroom immediately.
